BOODSKAP VAN DIE TENNISORGANISEERDER
Tennis by Laerskool Nelspruit is 'n individuele sport wat plaasvind binne 'n spansport, jy speel as 'n individu maar jy word as 'n span verteenwoordig. Tennis is 'n "gentleman's/woman's" sport, dit is gebaseer op etiket en goeie sportmangees op en van die baan af. By Laerskool Nelspruit moedig ons soveel as moontlik leerders aan om deel te neem aan al die feesdae wat by onder 7 begin -dit help om die liefde vir tennis in te kweek wat ons hoop lewenslank saam met hulle sal groei.
Tennis at Laerskool Nelspruit is an individual sport hidden within a team sport, you play as an individual but you are represented as a team. Tennis is a “gentleman’s/woman’s” sport, it is based on etiquette and good sportsmanship on and off the court. At Laerskool Nelspruit we encourage as many learners as possible to participate in all the festivals starting with under 7 - this helps instill the love for tennis which we hope will grow with them for life.
LEAGUES:
Die skool se tennisspanne neem deel aan die Laerskole Ehlanzeni Liga.
Ons neem deel in die Oop A tot Oop C liga wat bestaan uit beide seuns en dogters spanne. Die Oop spanne neem ook deel aan die Rising Star Toernooi in die derde kwartaal. Die o/11 tennisspelers neem deel aan feesdae wat in kwartaal 1 plaasvind. Die feesdae bied die spelers die geleentheid om in die spel te groei en te ontwikkel.
We participate in the Open A to Open C leagues that consist of boys’ and girls’ teams. The Open teams also participated in the Rising Star Tournament in the third term. The u11 tennis players participated in different festivals in the first term. These festivals offer the players the opportunity to grow and develop in the game.
Tennis word deurlopend in die jaar gespeel. Die spelers word aangemoedig om aan die Laeveld Junior Tennis se toernooie en wedstryde deel te neem. Spelers kan by hulle registreer.
Tennis is played throughout the year in the Lowveld. Participation in tournaments is encouraged. Players can register with Lowveld Junior Tennis and participate in all the games and tournaments hosted by them.
MISSIE
Tennis by Laerskool Nelspruit word beskou as ‘n opvoedkundige aktiwiteit. Die spel, afrigting en administrasie word gegrond op opvoedkundige beginsels. Gesonde kompetisie tussen individue en ander skole word aangemoedig maar die genot van die spel moet nooit onderbeklemtoon word nie.
Die ontwikkeling van basiese vaardighede en fisiese fiksheid is die primêre doelwitte.
Sportmangees aanvaarbare gedrag, op en van die baan af en regverdigheid, moet te alle tye seëvier.
Die feit dat tennis in baie opsigte ‘n individuele sport is, kan nie geïgnoreer word nie, maar nie ten koste van spanbou nie. Alle spelers moet bewus wees daarvan dat hulle vir hulle skool speel sowel as vir hulleself. Persoonlike doelwitte moet gekoester word en in balans wees met die doel om vir ‘n span te speel.
VISIE
Om die spel tennis te bevorder sodat dit vir elke speler ’n genotvolle, sowel as ’n sosiale sportsoort sal wees. Om as lid van ’n span, die etiek sowel as die vaardighede van die spel by die spelers tuis te bring. Die wenmotief moet nie oorbeklemtoon word nie, eerder die belangrikheid van onselfsugtigheid, trots op prestasie, beheer van humeur en die vermoë om met grasie te wen of verloor.
Hierdie is ook ‘n sportsoort waar die speler homself kan uitleef om persoonlike doelwitte te stel en na te streef. Ten spyte van persoonlike prestasie is dit die doel by die Nellies om in spanverband aan toernooie en wedstryde deel te neem. Elke speler gee dus sy beste en ondersteun ander met die doel om die maksimum punte vir die span te behaal.
PROEWE
Gedurende die 4de Kwartaal en begin van 1e Kwartaal word daar proewe gehou waar alle leerders uitgenooi word wat vir die skoolspanne wil uitspeel. Enige leerder mag aan die proewe deelneem. Leerders moet die vermoë beskik om tennis te kan speel en die reëls ken. Spelers hoef nie verpligte afrigting te ontvang by ‘n buite afrigter nie. Spelers wat wil deelneem moet op hul eie korrek kan tellinghou en korrek kan afslaan. Die Oop-A tot C spanne kan spelers van enige ouderdom wees. Die spelers word gekies volgens hul puntetotaal. Die tennisorganiseerder het steeds die finale beslissing ten opsigte van die bepaling van spanposisies.
Daar word ook ‘n 0/11 groep gekies. Die spelers speel slegs vriendskaplike wedstryde. Geen proewe word gehou vir die 0/7 - 0/11 spelers nie. Tennis word deurlopend deur die jaar afgerig deur privaat afrigters op die skool se tennisbane, sowel as op ander tennisbane. Wanneer die amptelike liga begin vind daar nie meer daag wedstryde plaas nie. Om in enige Laeveld toernooi deel te kan neem, moet spelers by Laeveld Junior Tennis geregistreer wees.
During the 4th term and the beginning of the 1st term, trials are held for all learners who wish to join the school tennis teams. Any learner may participate, provided they have the ability to play tennis and understand the rules. Coaching from an external coach is not mandatory. Participants must be able to keep score accurately and serve correctly on their own. The Open-A to C teams can consist of players of any age, and selection is based on their total points. However, the tennis organizer has the final say in team placements.
An u11 group is also selected, which participates in friendly matches only. No trials are held for u7 to u11 players. Tennis coaching is provided year-round by private coaches.
CODE OF CONDUCT
- At this level, most games are played without a referee, therefore good sportsmanship is of the utmost importance.
- Players will maintain a positive attitude throughout matches.
- Rackets will not be thrown on the ground.
- Players will not argue with their opponents. They are however allowed to direct a friendly request for the explanation of a point that is uncertain.
- No player will continue playing after a double bounce of the ball.
- An unsportsmanlike player will not be able to play competative.
- Players will not chew chewing gum.
- Players are expected to shake hands with their opponents after a game.
On the court
- It is expected of all players to be punctual at all times for matches, practices and bus departure. Remember to thank the driver of the bus.
- Players will support their team mates when they are not busy playing matches.
- No player leaves before all the matches are over.
- During home matches, the captain will welcome the guests and show them where the facilities are.
- The home team will provide the guests with refreshments.
- After a match, the players should thank the coach and players of the visiting team.
